Greater Family Health continues to remind persons on Medicaid to complete their Redetermination.
As a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Medicaid beneficiaries were automatically re-enrolled in their existing Medicaid coverage. This is no longer the case. In April of 2023, States have resumed the normal process of Medicaid eligibility review – Illinois resumed in July. As of September 20, 2023, 7,178,000 Medicaid enrollees across the United States, have been disenrolled from their plans, most of which were for procedural reasons, meaning that the person didn’t complete their renewal forms.
We have witnessed many patients lose their benefits due to a lack of awareness. Persons on Illinois Medicaid should be proactive and stay informed on their status.
WHAT PERSONS ON MEDICAID NEED TO DO:
Visit Medicaid.illinois.gov or call (877) 805-5312 to update your contact information.
Having the correct contact information on file with the State of Illinois is important in order to receive timely and accurate information regarding your Illinois Medicaid coverage.
Complete the Renewal Form
Every Medicaid enrollee will receive a letter from the State of Illinois regarding their renewal. This notice will come in a yellow envelope with red text that reads, “Action Required.” Enrollees should ensure they complete the required renewal form, so they don’t lose coverage.
Losing Coverage
Some Medicaid beneficiaries will lose eligibility and will not be able to reenroll. If this is the case, there are some options those persons can pursue:
- Health Insurance Marketplace – This marketplace allows Illinois residents to enroll in affordable health insurance.
- Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance – Those who lose Medicaid and have access to an employer-sponsored plan will have 60 days from termination of their Medicaid coverage to enroll in that plan.
- Health Benefits Specialist – Greater Family Health provides free benefits search and enrollment services. Our team can help connect anyone in the community with benefits that they are eligible for. Talk to a specialist today by calling 844.599.3700.
