Greater Family Health Celebrates Multiple National Quality of Care Awards!

Greater Family Health celebrated the receipt of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Quality Leader Award and Health Center Quality Leader – Gold Award on August 26, 2019, with a host of federal and local officials and dignitaries, as well as with all of Greater Family Health’s Board of Directors and staff.

Also celebrated during the National Quality Leader Award Celebration were Greater Family Health’ receipt of the Advancing HIT for Quality and Clinical Quality Improver awards, also offered by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

The Awards are based on Greater Family Health’s 2018 clinical outcomes, which have again been recognized among the best of all Federally Qualified Health Centers in the United States and Illinois.

Congratulatory letters from Senator Tammy Duckworth and Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi were read by Greater Family Health’s Board Chair and Elgin City Councilman Corey Dixon. After comments from Douglas O’Brien, Regional Director, HHS, and Tamara Cox, Regional Administrator of HRSA, Ms. Anne Huang, Nurse Consultant for HRSA presented the Awards to Greater Family Health’s Medical Director Dr. Mark Thompson, Board Chair Corey Dixon, and Bob Tanner, President/ CEO.

Additional congratulatory comments were offered by Senator Cristina Castro from Illinois’ 22ND Legislative District, Representative Anna Moeller from Illinois’ 43RD District, and Elgin Mayor David Kaptain.

The event was streamed live to all Greater Family Health Health Centers and staff members and culminated with comments by President/CEO Tanner and a toast offered by Board Chair Dixon.

Greater Family Health’s Hypertension/Heart Health outcome ranked in the top 2% nationally, resulting in the National Quality Leader Award. Greater Family Health has now received the premier Award – National Quality Leader – twice.

Greater Family Health’s overall clinical outcomes ranked in the top 10% of the Country’s 1,362 reporting Federally Qualified Health Centers, resulting in the receipt of the Health Center Quality Leader-Gold Award. Greater Family Health has received the National Health Center Quality Leader for 6 consecutive years, the National Clinical Quality Improver Award in 5 of the past 6 years, and the Advancing HIT for Quality Award every year it has been offered.

Greater Family Health is also a 2017 Million Hearts Hypertension Control Champion, awarded by the Centers for Disease Control.
