U.S. Representative Sean Casten Visits Greater Family Health

On November 6^th, 2019 Representative Sean Casten (D-IL, 6^th) and his District Director, Anne Wick, visited Greater Family Health and met with Greater Family Health staff.

During his visit, Congressman Casten toured Greater Family Health’s new Greater Family Health, located at 373 Summit Street in Elgin. The Congressman met several Greater Family Health practitioners, coordinators, medical assistants, nurses and Greater Family Health’s Medication Assisted Treatment Coordinator, Claire Brown. Ms. Brown shared with the Congressman a brief introduction of the Medication Assisted Treatment services offered by Greater Family Health and discussed the benefits that patients receive as part of this program.

During his meeting with Greater Family Health President/CEO, Robert M. Tanner, Congressman Casten learned about Greater Family Health’s history, breadth of services and multiple national recognitions received for the quality of care that the organization offers its patients. Earlier this year, Greater Family Health was again nationally recognized by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services as among the best of all Federally Qualified Health Centers in the United States and Illinois – for the 6^th year in a row!

Congressman Casten and Mr. Tanner also discussed several policy updates from the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), including legislation to re-authorize funding for Community Health Centers on a long-term basis. Congressman Casten expressed his support for Community Health Centers and his interest in learning more about applicable pending legislation. Mr. Tanner added that a 5-year extension of funding would help all Community Health Centers better meet the needs of the communities they serve, thanking the Congressman for his support.

Over 23,000 of Greater Family Health’s patients reside in Illinois’ 6th Congressional District. Furthermore, Greater Family Health’s Randall Health Center, located at 1425 Randall Road in Elgin, is located within Congressman Casten’s District.
