On April 15th, 2019, U.S. Representative Lauren Underwood (D-IL, 14th) toured and visited Greater Family Health (3901 Mercy Dr., McHenry, IL) and met with Greater Family Health staff and Board members.
As part of her visit, Congresswoman Underwood learned about Greater Family Health and the impact that Community Health Centers, like Greater Family Health, have on increasing access to health care across the country. Congresswoman Underwood was impressed with the quality of care that Greater Family Health provides, as Greater Family Health has won multiple quality recognitions including national recognition as a Hypertension Control Champion, National Quality Leader and Health Center Quality Leader.
During the meeting, Greater Family Health President/CEO, Robert M. Tanner, shared health care policy updates from the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) with the Congresswoman. Topics focused on long-term reauthorization of several health care programs including the Health Center Program and the National Health Service Corp. Congresswoman Underwood acknowledged the bipartisan popularity of Community Health Centers and the many studies which document the savings and quality of care produced by FQHCs.
