On the morning of Wednesday, July 17th, Greater Family Health hosted the 2024 SPIRIT of Excellence Awards Banquet Ceremony. This annual event aims to recognize and award outstanding contributions from Greater Family Health staff throughout the year.
How it Works
Employees who show SPIRIT (Mission, Reputation, Quality, Leadership, Communication, Teamwork) in their day-to-day roles in an exemplary manner are nominated by their colleagues and patients. Nominated employees receive a sticker for each nomination. After four nominations, that employee is awarded a pin to display on their Greater Family Health ID Badge. All nominees are eligible to be awarded, and the finalists are chosen by a committee who review all nominations without identifying information to ensure an unbiased evaluation.
The Awardees
Christina Mazhary, Director of Human Resources, began the ceremony by introducing the dedicated members of the SPIRIT Awards Committee. This committee, formed annually, reviews SPIRIT of Excellence nominees and their achievements throughout the year to select the finalists and then winners in each category. The categories include Patient Liaison, Care Partner, Practitioner, and Organizational Support.
Each committee member, representing one of the categories, took turns announcing the winners:
Olha Mendyuk, RN, MSN, FNP-C, presented the Practitioner award to Dr. Kiran Ali, MD.
Bianca Arana, Health Benefits Specialist, presented the Patient Liaison award to Cameron Sanchez, Receptionist.
Lorena Perez, Medical Assistant, presented the Care Partner award to Jazmin Garcia, Medical Assistant.
Karina Romero, EPM & EHR Specialist presented the Organizational Support award to Julian Brown, IT Help Desk Analyst.

The event wrapped up with a speech made by Lupe Fonseca, Greater Family Health’s CEO. She recognized the immense impact staff have on the success of the organization and encouraged all to continue chasing Excellence in everything we do.
