Health Benefits Specialists assist community members with applying for a variety of state and local programs, including Medicaid, SNAP, Medicare Savings Programs, private health insurance through the state’s Marketplace (Get Covered Illinois), Access to Care (for Cook County residents only), and the Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP).
We welcome everyone in our communities who wishes to apply for benefits or submit renewals (redetermination) when they are due. Our Health Benefits Specialists also help clients understand correspondence they have received regarding their benefits. However, there are times when we are unable to provide assistance because additional information or action is required directly from the state.
Over the past six months, changes to immigration policies have created challenges for many individuals, with some feeling hesitant or fearful about applying for benefits. Despite these concerns, our team successfully submitted a total of 3,686 applications, demonstrating our continued commitment to serving our communities.
