Prescription Assistance Program: Removing Barriers to Better Health

Prescription Assistance Program

At Greater Family Health, eliminating barriers that prevent patients from managing their health is a top priority. One way we achieve this is through our Prescription Assistance Program, which helps qualifying patients access essential medications at no cost when affordability is an issue. This program is just one of the many resources that support our mission to provide quality, affordable health care for all, including those without the ability to pay.

Recently, a patient at our Hanover Park location experienced the life-changing impact of this program. The patient had been struggling with uncontrolled diabetes and required insulin along with oral medications. Although the provider prescribed the necessary treatment, follow-up visits revealed no improvement. When asked, the patient explained they could not afford the insulin and were unable to take all prescribed medications.

Upon learning this, the provider immediately introduced the Prescription Assistance Program and began the application process. The patient was approved and now receives insulin through the program. Today, their diabetes is well controlled, and they are fully compliant with their treatment plan. The patient expressed deep gratitude for the health center, the staff, and the quality of care—thrilled to see their health improving.

Stories like this are not unique to Hanover Park. Across all Greater Family Health locations, countless patients benefit from the Prescription Assistance Program. Thanks to the dedication of our medical providers, who tirelessly seek resources and programs to remove barriers, patients can better manage chronic conditions and live healthier lives.
