Greater Family Health awarded Ambulatory Care, Behavioral Health Care, and Primary Care Medical Home Accreditation from The Joint Commission

As a result of The Joint Commission’s recent unannounced survey, Greater Family Health has yet again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval ® for Ambulatory Care and Primary Care Medical Home Accreditation. Because of the recent survey, Greater Family Health earned Behavioral Health Care Accreditation for the first time.

The Joint Commission serves as the nation’s premier body for assessing the quality and safety of care, and accreditation is given to organizations that consistently comply with its’ performance standards. The Gold Seal of Approval is a mark of excellence that expresses a healthcare organization’s dedication to offering safe and effective patient care – one that Greater Family Health will continue to display proudly.

“As a private accreditor, The Joint Commission surveys health care organizations to protect the public by identifying deficiencies in care and working with those organizations to correct them as quickly and sustainably as possible,” says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, Chief Operating Officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and Chief Nursing Executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Greater Family Health for its continuous quality improvement efforts in patient safety and quality of care.”

In July 2022, Greater Family Health underwent a rigorous, unannounced three-day onsite review. During the survey, a team of Joint Commission surveyors assessed Greater Family Health’s compliance with Standards in multiple areas, including patient care, treatment and services, hundreds of Elements of Performance, team member onboarding procedures, consistency of policy and procedure implementation across all our health centers, communication of expectations and systems, and our performance improvement, credentialing, patient safety and infection control systems.

The surveyors also conducted interviews of team members and engaged in onsite observations of eight Greater Family Health locations.

“Greater Family Health’s team members work very hard every day to consistently implement our policies and assure that Greater Family Health remains fully compliant with The Joint Commission’s Standards and maintain our commitment to excellence,” said Bob Tanner, President/CEO of Greater Family Health. “Our team members have repeatedly demonstrated compassion, dedication and commitment to our patients, with clear evidence of the collective embracing of our mission and values. Accreditation from The Joint Commission in 3 different areas is yet another excellent outcome achieved by our skilled professionals.”
