Greater Family Health Celebrates Expansion of Health Center in Streamwood with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: Illinois State Representative Fred Crespo Honored for His Contributions

Streamwood, IL-

Greater Family Health, the 5th largest Community Health Center in the state of Illinois, is proud to announce the expansion of our Health Center in Streamwood, a milestone made possible through the dedicated efforts of Illinois State Representative Fred Crespo.

On August 12th, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate this significant achievement. The event marked the culmination of a successful partnership between Greater Family Health and Representative Crespo, who advocated for close to a million-dollar contribution.

In recognition of his invaluable support, Representative Crespo was honored with two plaques at the ceremony. The first will be prominently displayed in the waiting area of the Streamwood location, forever honoring the Representative. The other, smaller plaque was presented as a personal gift.

“I am grateful for [this recognition] but thank all of you most importantly for the things you do for the community,” said the Representative while addressing Greater Family Health staff, “[Bob Tanner] advocated for the Health Center and for the work that you do, and I look forward to having the same relationship with Lupe.”

“When our [Health Center in Streamwood] opened in 2012, we saw close to 800 patients in that first month, we had 9 exam rooms, and a very small provider area,” Said Lupe Fonseca, Greater Family Health’s CEO, “This expansion made a significant change for us, adding 7 more exam rooms, an additional Provider area, a larger patient waiting room, and a larger lunchroom for staff. We are now able to see 2,700 patients per month.”

Greater Family Health is thankful for the support of Representative Fred Crespo and will continue to serve Streamwood and the surrounding communities for years to come.

Greater Family Health is the area’s premier Federally Qualified Health Center, providing a comprehensive range of high-quality, affordably priced, fully-integrated primary care services to almost 68,000 area residents by almost 214,000 medical, behavioral health and oral health appointments annually.  Operating 11 Community Health Centers in 5 northeastern Illinois counties, the organization is accredited by The Joint Commission, Primary Care Medical Home certified, repeatedly nationally recognized for both its health outcomes and cost efficiency, and provides care regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.
