As the holiday season is quickly approaching, Greater Family Health is getting ready to celebrate its 5th Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday is a day of giving that allows community members to support local not-for-profits that focus on serving individuals and families in need.
In Fiscal Year 2019, Greater Family Health served 51,078 patients through 166,843 visits to one of our 9 Health Centers. Donations from Giving Tuesday will allow Greater Family Health to provide even more services to families in need:
- $100 will give a new mom the baby essentials she needs for her newborn in a Greater Family Health Baby Bag. The bag includes diapers, wipes, nursery kit, baby book, baby clothes and baby thermometer. Every year, our practitioners deliver more than 800 babies at 5 area hospitals. Our new moms face many economic challenges and receiving these newborn essentials will be of great help.
- $50 will give a dental exam and cleaning to an uninsured adult patient. Our Dental Clinic is one of the few that provide affordable dental health services to uninsured adults on a sliding fee scale. Good dental health is key for good overall health.
- $25 will give a lifesaving cervical cancer screening to a woman at risk. Each year, more than 13,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and over 4,000 die from this disease. Regular screenings will save women’s lives.
This year Giving Tuesday will be held on December 3rd, 2019 and donations can be made at any time throughout the day.
