On Monday, April 14th, we were honored to welcome Senator Craig Wilcox to our Health Center in McHenry. Our President and CEO, Lupe Fonseca, led the tour, showcasing the comprehensive services we provide to our community. From primary healthcare to therapy and psychiatry, Senator Wilcox was impressed by our commitment to patient care and the innovative approaches we employ.
During the tour, Senator Wilcox engaged with our leadership team, discussing the critical federal 340b program, which is currently facing challenges. His genuine interest and thoughtful questions highlighted his dedication to understanding the complexities of healthcare funding and support. We are grateful for his willingness to advocate for this essential program, which helps us deliver affordable medications to our patients.
Senator Wilcox also demonstrated attentiveness to local issues, recognizing the need for a traffic light at our intersection with the upcoming expansion to Route 31 to ease congestion during rush hour.
Moreover, Senator Wilcox understood the current challenges around provider licensing delays. His office actively assists in expediting the licensing process by communicating with Springfield, ensuring that providers can start working sooner. This support was a pleasant surprise to our Chief Medical Officer and Director of HR, who were elated by his news.
Senator Wilcox’s visit was a testament to the importance of collaboration between healthcare providers and local politicians. His down-to-earth demeanor and receptiveness to our concerns reaffirm our belief in working together to achieve the best outcomes for our patients. We look forward to continuing engaging with our elected officials for the benefit of Greater Family Health patients.
