Greater Family Health celebrates 11th Health Center with Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On August 25th, 2022, Greater Family Health celebrated the opening of its Health Center in Franklin Park, Illinois, with dozens of professionals, elected officials, and staff members attending.

President/CEO Bob Tanner led the upbeat and energetic event. The event included several tours of the state-of-the-art Health Center, delicious food and treats, comments from distinguished guests, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and recognition of the support and contributions of Leyden Township and Edward-Elmhurst Health.

Bob Tanner welcomed guests and introduced them to Greater Family Health and its regional scope and leadership as a Federally Qualified Health Center, noting the primary care services offered at the Franklin Park location and the clinical excellence of the care provided by the organization.

Tanner also spotlighted the Health Center’s 15 accommodating examination rooms, two behavioral health offices, full-service laboratory operated by LabCorp, and CLIA-waived laboratory for point-of-care testing. Likewise, Bob recognized 3 of the four full-time practitioners, including Medical Director Dr. Engjellush Sadik, Physician Assistant Amanda Corral, and Licensed Clinical Social Worker Phylicia Headley, all of which were in attendance.

Speakers included Leyden Township Supervisor Rocco Biscagli, Edward-Elmhurst Health Manager of Community Relations and Government Relations Colin Dalough, Mayor of Franklin Park Barrett Pederson, and Greater Family Health Board Member and Commissioner of Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Metropolitan Chicago Eira Corral-Sepùlveda.

Leyden Township Supervisor Rocco Biscagli began his remarks by acknowledging the remarkable evolution of the Health Center from the moment he first saw it at the groundbreaking ceremony, which occurred in December of 2021, to the grand opening.

“[Greater Family Health] has done a great job and they are a much-needed service to our community,” said Biscagli. “We are thrilled to have them here. We are so thrilled that I am happy to announce that we will be giving Greater Family Health a $75,000 grant to help support their mission,” he continued as he removed a check from an envelope and handed it to Bob Tanner.

A gesture that was met with roaring applause.

Colin Dalough, Barrett Pederson, and Eira Corral-Sepulveda (left to right) contributed to Rocco’s sentiment as they voiced their appreciation for Greater Family Health’s presence in the Franklin Park area.

“Two weeks before we received the initial introduction to Greater Family Health, I was in a meeting with local leaders and school administrators in which we discussed the need for medical care for our residents and their families,” said Mayor Pederson, “and our prayers were answered with an amazing organization that is here to provide the services we need for our residents,” he continued.

Ribbon cutters included Medical Director Dr. Engjellush Sadik, Chief Financial Officer Jason Carey, Eira Corral-Sepùlveda, Board Chair-elect Lizette Leanos, Greater Family Health Founding Member Donna Anderson, Barrett Pederson, Rocco Biscagli, Chief Operations Officer V. Guadalupe Fonseca, and Bob Tanner.

Bob Tanner concluded the celebration with a spirited acknowledgment of the hundreds of Greater Family Health employees’ many skills, talents, and dedication, all of which substantially contribute to the organization’s many awards, successes, and accomplishments.
