Illinois State Senator Cristina Castro Visits Greater Family Health location in Elgin

On Tuesday, March 11th, Greater Family Health welcomed Illinois State Senator Cristina Castro and two members of her staff to our Health Center located at 373 Summit St. in Elgin.

The Senator met with Greater Family Health’s Leadership team as well as members of the Board to discuss current health topics that affect the communities we serve. These discussions included a range of issues such as access to affordable healthcare, the importance of preventive care, and the challenges faced by underserved populations especially in the Elgin area.

During the visit, Greater Family Health leaders emphasized the critical role of accessible healthcare services for all individuals, regardless of their ability to pay. The discussion centered on the impact this policy change may have on patients.

“At Greater Family Health, we believe healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege,” said Lupe Fonseca, President and CEO of Greater Family Health, “We are grateful to the Senator for her support of our community and their ability to access care.”

During the meeting, Fonseca shared an impact report regarding services offered by Greater Family Health for residents of the greater Elgin area, many of which reside in the Senator’s district.

Senator Castro reaffirmed her support for community health initiatives and acknowledged the challenges ahead. Greater Family Health remains dedicated to working with policymakers and community partners to find solutions that uphold healthcare access for all – regardless of their ability to pay.
