What You Need to Know about Health Benefits Enrollment

We know that selecting a health care insurance plan that’s right for you or your family can be a time-consuming, tedious process. It might be something that you’ve been putting off because it seems so complicated. Especially if you’re healthy, you might think that you don’t need health insurance.

But at Greater Family Health, we’ve seen first-hand how important it is for patients to get covered.

“Having healthcare insurance is important because medical care, and medicines, can be expensive, especially hospitalizations,” says Bob Tanner, President/CEO of Greater Family Health. “Being covered by health care insurance can save you money and provides access to affordable care from your doctor and specialists. Insurance can give you easier access to the care you need — including medical, dental and behavioral health.”

Our Health Benefits Specialists are 100% dedicated to helping you get the coverage that suits you best.

At any time during the year, you can meet with one of our Specialists who can help you apply for insurance. They’ll help you determine which type of plan you may qualify for, such as:

  • Medicaid: More than 72 million Americans are on Medicaid. This is a joint state and federal program established in 1965 to provide healthcare coverage to people with lower income levels.
  • Marketplace (Affordable Care Act): The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law in 2010. This federal law focuses on consumer choices and protections. It makes it easier and more affordable for individuals and families to enroll in health insurance. This option is geared for people who don’t qualify for Medicare, Medicaid or employer-sponsored insurance.
  • Health Benefits for Immigrant Seniors: Non-citizens age 65 and over who don’t meet immigration status for Medicaid may be eligible for this state-funded program. Learn more.

Our Specialists speak both English and Spanish and we have translators available for other languages. For your convenience, we can meet in person or talk over the telephone about your options. Even if you don’t have Internet access, we can help you apply at one of our Health Center locations.

Open Enrollment for the ACA Health Insurance Marketplace begins November 1, 2021. If you’d like to schedule a conversation to speak with one of our specialists, call 844-599-3700, ext. 2102. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
