A Message from Alexis:

The challenges of life are unavoidable, no one is immune to the effects of stress or trauma. Since 2013 I have been working as a licensed clinical social worker providing outpatient services to mandated adolescents and adults treating substance use issues and community based mental health counseling. My goal is to assist clients to learn ways to identify and navigate feelings and promote the use of healthy coping skills to manage the difficult moments in life. I have worked with clients to address issues related to anger management, anxiety disorders, conduct & impulse control, communication problems, interpersonal skills, depression symptoms, changing life events and transitions, stress, low self-esteem, trauma & posttraumatic stress, and substance use issues.

I utilize respect, patience, and humor to build rapport in sessions to establish a trusting therapeutic alliance with clients. I implement a variety of treatment modalities during sessions, but all are based in trauma informed perspective, using a client centered approach incorporating motivational interviewing techniques and solution focused therapy. Together we identify meaningful motivations for change and create a plan with reasonable steps that introduce the change behavior in a way that fosters long term change. We can’t escape the stress of life, but we don’t have to do it alone.
